After an evening of late night poker with real cowboys in a haunted 120 year old hotel in Cody, Wyoming we cut our losses and headed to Montana and South Dakota.  We visited Little Bighorn in Crow Agency, Montana and drove through the impoverished Cheyenne communities in the Southwest corner of the state.  It looked as though alcohol and crystal methamphetamine were eating away at many of these towns from the inside.  The story of the Native American has followed me in my journey through the Southwest and the Northwest and some of these towns were a very unpleasant reminder of where many chapters of this story have led.

Rapid City, South Dakota sits on the border of Wyoming.  There is an alley off of Main Street called Art Alley, that we happened upon, where anyone and everyone can legally paint whatever they like as long as it isn’t over someone else’s work.  It was an outdoor gallery of street art that was quite intriguing in this tiny town somewhere between here and nowhere.

  1. This is a cool looking place. The local Chamber of Commerce should use your photo for PR. And as to poker, may I assume you citislickers got creamed?
