As luck would have it, I arrived in San Antonio on the biggest day of the year: the last day of Fiesta San Antonio which celebrates the city and its rich Mexican culture. The entire downtown(and everywhere else) area was closed off for a full day of parades, empanadas and music. What luck!
This girl was both cute and shy as her Mexican orchestra strutted down the street.
After the Alamo and a great meal on the Riverwalk, which is a canal that runs through central San Antonio, I headed off into Hill Country. Hill Country is the last great divide between Central Texas and the desert.
The entire drive was shrouded in a haze due to the wild fires tearing through West Texas. As the trees and grass slowly dissolved into shrubs and dirt I was amazed at the ever changing landscape of this country.
