I was pretty happy to get out of Houston.  Either my GPS can’t handle all the stacked highways and byways or there are at least 3 downtowns in Houston.

The Johnson Space Center aka “Houston we have a problem” was an amazing place for a kid who always dreamed of growing up to become an astronaut.  When I arrived, a mob of reporters had crowed the main lobby as they awaited news on where the remaining space shuttles would be awarded.  It was a huge disappointment when none were given to Houston, arguably the origin of NASA’s space exploration program.  Even without the shuttle, this facility will be at the helm of space missions for many years to come.

“Curiosity is the essence of mankind”.

The drive from Houston to Austin was very pleasant and lined with ranches and old cemeteries.  It brought to mind some vague recollection I have of those popular primetime soap operas from the 80’s about cattle ranchers and oil tycoons.

Upon arriving in Austin I immediately noticed the imposing state capital modeled after the US Capitol in Washington DC.  This monument in front of the building honors the fallen Texas Rangers(Chuck Norris not the baseball team).

I was not aware of your skill of taking photos. Maybe it does’nt owe to your new camera but to your grandfather’s inheritance. every shot is fantastic! Takashi
